Sample one of their 100 tequilas whilst settling in as your pitstop or final destination
Rancho Sombrero
Nominated best Mexican food truck in WA in 2020, we would go as far to say the title still stands. What surprises many is that the owner of this Mexican food truck is Takeshi, a famous Japanese Teppan chef. Takeshi has worked around the world for over 20 years but now settles in Perth, showcasing his talents out of the renowned food truck Rancho Sombrero. Appearing at events across Perth as well as available to hire for events, Rancho Sombrero is the go-to food truck featuring slow cooked meats, sweet, spicy and smokey BBQ flavours as well as a unique sprinkle of asian flavour.
El Publico
Award-winning modern Mexican in Highgate, El Publico delivers some of Perth’s best Mexican street food. Sip on tasting flights of tequila and mezcal whilst musing on the menu. Too hard to choose between snacks and sharers? Their feed me menu (compulsory for a table of over seven) contains a sampling of pork crackle, empanadas, street corn, mixed grill, and guacamole, of course.
Pancho’s Mexican Villa
No-frills-attached dishes, Pancho’s plates flavour-packed meals without all of the bells and whistles. Simply satisfying and delicious food. This family-owned classic has been tucked away from the Albany Highway strip for over 30 years. Host-picked classics include chicken and beef fajitas – wrap it up and make your own meal – prawn and avocado salad served inside a wrap or Pancho’s classic, vegetarian burrito. Don a sombrero whilst sharing their fishbowl-sized cocktails. If you can finish it, the glass is yours to keep.
La Cabana
It’s hard to find a better location than South Freo. La Cabana has quickly made a name for itself in a short time of operation with queues out the door on any given night. Abuela’s recipes brought to life through the best of WA’s fresh produce. Wickedly informal dining experience, post-South beach dip, and dog-friendly too. Impossible to go past the corn tentacles, ceviche, or crushed potatoes. Surprisingly vegan-friendly, with cocktails you can’t put down.
Hermanos En Cantina
Casual, but not quite as grab and go as our chain burrito favs, Hermanos En Cantina is a Tex-Mex dining experience to be had. The slow-cooked beef is their self-proclaimed best-kept secret scattered throughout their menu. Despite boasting parmis, salad, bagels, and the likes, their tacos win with us every time. Simple menu and great service, find them on Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley for an easy opinion for the whole family.
